Moderate Cut vs. Classic Cut: Which Bikini Bottom Is Right for You?

If you're shopping for your first competition suit — or you're new to Fit Model Bikinis — one of the first decisions you'll make is which bottom cut to order. We offer two: Moderate Cut and Classic Cut. They're not about preference or trend. They're about your body.

Here's how to choose.

Moderate Cut — For Smaller Frames and Smaller Glutes

The Moderate Cut is built for athletes with a smaller frame and less glute volume. The proportions are scaled to flatter a leaner lower body without overwhelming it. If you order a Classic Cut on a smaller frame, the bottom can look oversized and swallow the lines you've worked hard to build.

Choose Moderate if you're petite, lean through the hips and glutes, or competing in a division where a more streamlined back view suits your physique.

Classic Cut — For Fuller Glutes

The Classic Cut is designed for athletes with fuller, more developed glutes. It provides the coverage and shaping those proportions actually need — so your hard-earned muscle is framed, not squeezed or cut off at the wrong angle. A Moderate Cut on a fuller glute will pull, dig, and distort the line you want the judges to see.

Choose Classic if you've built serious glute development, carry more curve through the hips, or simply want a fuller back coverage that complements a stronger lower body.

The Bottom Line

Pick the cut that matches your body — not the one you think looks best on someone else on stage. The right cut disappears and lets your physique do the talking. The wrong cut becomes the thing the judges notice.

If you're still unsure, reach out before you order. We've been fitting competitors since 1996, and a two-minute conversation can save you a suit.
