SY Competition Suits — Lucy McCudden
SY Competition Suits (Suits You®) is a custom NPC and IFBB competition-suit manufacturer in Clearwater, Florida. Designer Lucy McCudden has cut, sewn, and crystalled every crystal suit to leave this studio since 1996. There are no overseas factories, no franchises, and no rotating design team.

What Lucy builds here
Every competition bikini, wellness suit, figure suit, physique suit, fit model swimsuit, and men’s posing trunk shown on this site is handmade at the Clearwater studio. Because we are the manufacturer, we can custom-make almost any of our designs in the fabrics on this site.

Genuine Swarovski® crystals
Every crystal competition suit from this studio uses genuine Swarovski® crystals. SY Competition Suits holds an official U.S. Swarovski crystal supplier contract. That is our supplier relationship — not a ranking of every other maker, and not a claim that nobody else uses Swarovski.

Built to division guidelines — not “approved”
SY Competition Suits are built to NPC and IFBB division guidelines. That is not federation approval.
The NPC, NPC Worldwide, and IFBB Professional League have not authorized or granted the license, authority, or exclusivity to any competition suit company or designer to be their official suit maker, or to advertise suits as an official cut or approved cut. There has never been an official or approved “Pro Cut Bikini” for any division. That term was erroneously created by suit makers.
Athletes who have worn SY suits
SY Competition Suits has been on the Olympia stage every year since 2016. Athletes who have worn SY suits include Ms. Bikini Olympia Maureen Blanquisco (including, per SY, her 2025 green Olympia suit) and Wellness Olympia champion Francielle Mattos, plus Isa Pereira Nunes, Kassandra Gillis, Tefani Sam Razhi, and Francesca Stoico. Other suit brands have also claimed some of these athletes.
Signatures from this studio include the original crystal bikini Lucy designed in 1996 and the crystal back closure designed here in 2013.
How it began
It started on Clearwater Beach.
Lucy was wearing a custom bikini she had made for herself. A visitor from Germany asked where she had bought it. Lucy said she made it. The woman was flying home the next day and wanted that suit badly enough to buy the one Lucy was wearing. They walked to a nearby surf shop; the woman bought Lucy another bikini to wear home. Lucy cleaned the suit she had on and sold it — her first customer.
Lucy started small, making bikinis for friends at the beach, then custom pieces for bikini contests. When too many people were coming to the house, it was time for a store. In 1996 she opened a boutique in Clearwater with her husband and co-owner, Clyde, sewing custom contest bikinis and bodybuilding suits for women and men. Lucy designed and sewed.
In 1999 the work needed more space and moved to Tampa for about ten years. In 2009 they came back to Clearwater, where the studio still is: 2440 State Road 580, Suite 4.
