Derek Lunsford's 2026 Olympia Trunks, Made by SY Competition Suits

For the 2026 Olympia, Derek Lunsford stepped on stage in custom bodybuilding trunks made by SY Competition Suits. He placed third in Men's Open Bodybuilding at the 2026 Mr. Olympia, behind Nick Walker and Samson Dauda (results via Generation Iron). Every pair was custom-made by Lucy McCudden, the founder, owner and designer of SY Competition Suits, in her Clearwater, Florida studio, where she has been making competition suits since 1996.

How it started

This project took months. We talked with Derek about what he had in mind for his trunks this year, then set up a meeting to choose colors and take his measurements.

That meeting didn't go the usual way. Derek was in the middle of a workout at his gym, Champs Elysium Gym, training with three other Olympians who were running late that day. He stopped mid-session, and we took his measurements right there on the gym floor. It's his gym, so he can do whatever he wants.

Two prototypes to get it right

Lucy made a first prototype so Derek could check our fit and color. He asked for a couple of tweaks, and Lucy suggested a couple of her own. We made a second prototype with those changes and delivered it. It was perfect, and Derek was really happy with it.

His signature turquoise

Once the fit was locked in, we made Derek a handful of trunks in a few different colors. Those include several versions of turquoise, the color fans know him for and the one he always wears on stage.

More than a one-time order

This isn't a one-time project. Over the past months we've gotten to know Derek and his wife well, and we'll keep working together. In Derek's words:
