The SYC In-Stock Competition Suit Sizing Guide
The SYC In-Stock Competition Suit Sizing Guide
How to measure yourself accurately so your ready-to-ship suit fits like custom.
Buying an in-stock competition suit doesn't mean settling for an "off-the-rack" fit. At Suits You Competition Suits, we actually adjust our in-stock suits to your exact measurements before they ship out of our Clearwater, Florida, facility.
To ensure your suit fits flawlessly on stage, we need accurate measurements. Because your body is changing rapidly during prep, guessing your size based on your off-season clothes will not work.
Use this guide to take your measurements right now. Then, enter them at checkout, and we will handle the rest.

The Golden Rules of Measuring During Prep
- Use a soft measuring tape. Do not use a metal construction tape measure.
- Measure against your skin. Do not measure over padded bras, baggy clothes, or thick sweatpants.
- Do not pull the tape too tight. It should lay flat and snug against your skin, but it should not dig in or create a bulge.
- Be honest. Do not suck in your stomach or subtract inches because you plan to lose more weight. We ask for your "Target Weight" at checkout so we can factor in your remaining prep time.
How to Take Your 5 Essential Measurements
1. Over Bust (Cup Size)
What it measures: The fullest part of your chest.
How to do it: Wrap the measuring tape around your back and across the fullest part of your breasts (typically right over the nipples). Keep the tape parallel to the floor. Do not pull tight.
2. Under Bust (Band Size)
What it measures: The ribcage directly beneath your breasts.
How to do it: Lift your breasts slightly if necessary. Wrap the tape tightly around your ribcage, directly where the band of a bra would sit. Ensure the tape is straight across your back.
3. Waist
What it measures: The narrowest part of your torso.
How to do it: Find the natural crease of your waist by bending slightly to one side. This is usually about an inch or two above your belly button. Wrap the tape around this narrowest point. Relax your stomach—do not suck in.
4. Hip Bone
What it measures: Where the connectors of your suit bottoms will sit.
How to do it: Locate your hip bones (the bony protrusions on the front of your pelvis). Wrap the measuring tape around your body directly over these bones. This is higher than your actual hips/glutes.
5. Lower Hips (Glutes)
What it measures: The fullest part of your glutes for proper bottom coverage.
How to do it: Stand with your feet together. Wrap the tape around the absolute widest, fullest part of your hips and glutes. Make sure the tape remains parallel to the floor all the way around.
What Else We Need at Checkout
When you add an in-stock suit to your cart, you will see a text box asking for your measurements. In addition to the 5 measurements above, we also ask for:
- Height: Your exact height without heels.
- Current Weight: Your weight on the day you take these measurements.
- Target Weight: Your estimated stage weight. If you are 4 weeks out and plan to lose 5 more pounds, tell us. We use this to adjust the suit for your future body, not just your current one.
- Check-In Photos: There is an upload button for your most recent check-in photos (front, back, and side relaxed poses). Do not skip this. Photos give our team the visual context needed to make precise adjustments to the connectors and cut.
